Dad's Thoughts

Hello my name is Wayne, and I am a middle aged man over 50 who has lived a long educational life and I would love to share this life with you today and days to come.

Over the years I lived in many communities, Nanaimo BC, Comox BC, Happy Valley BC, Victoria BC, Winnipeg MB; Elliot Lake ON, and now in Sault Ste Marie ON. My personal life history of living on my own starts in Winnipeg, MB and so that is where I will start.

I started to live on my own at the age of seventeen when I left home. I could not stand to see my mother beaten and raped by her new husband. I found an apartment and about 3 months later my mother moved in with me for about a year to get on her feet after leaving Art.

During this time I was depressed and I really needed some guidance and direction for my live. My mom told me about this church and said I should go and they may give me what I needed. After thinking about it I went to the Fort Rouge Corps of The Salvation Army with their new officer, Lieut. W. Hong and his wife, whose name I cannot remember, I’m ashamed to say.

I found a cause that I found interesting. Wayne Hong used me in many areas of the church and I learned much about Christ and The Sallyanne, as the nick name of Salvation Army. I found a calling and something to do. I found Lieut. Wayne Hong, who I adopted as my father, before I accepted Jesus as my Saviour I was teaching Sunday school, and learning as I taught.
